 The Create the Future Website is designed to allow a conversation about our future that will bring new ideas to help us capture the opportunities of tomorrow. Through this conversation, we are hoping that Northeast North Carolina will have a better understanding of who we are as a community, what technology is going to make possible, and where we can go as a community.
In order to get this information we have provided three areas for discussion plus an outcomes page to show what we have learned.
How we choose to define ourselves very often helps us to understand where we can get to. So, we are inviting visitors to our website to help better define our community.
When you click the link above, you will see that you have arrived at a Wikipedia page for “The Outer Banks.” This definition has been created by users from all over the world. By logging in to Wikipedia’s website, you can change the definition, add more accurate information, or create a subtopic that you think is important. Don’t forget, you will need to set up a separate user name and login for the Wikipedia site than for obxfuture.org.
It is hard to imagine what our future can be like, without knowing the possibilities of what technology can bring. To help spark the imagination, you can go to this section to get links to information about anything from nano-technology, to sustainable building practices, to how we might educate our children in the future.
When you click on this page, you will find subjects along the left hand side to help guide you towards your interests.
This is the most important part of our website. It is your chance to not only tell us what you think is important and how we can get there, but also have discussions with others about their ideas. To help this occur, we have set up a virtual “Forum.”
When you click on this link, you will be brought to a page that will help you look at what others are saying or start your own conversation.
This is how you can check in on our progress from time to time. Based on everyone’s ideas and suggestions, we will try and bring the most essential ideas to everyone’s attention. From these ideas, we will be making new projects that will prepare our community for the future. This will also be our call to service, asking people to support these projects in a variety of ways.
